Happy New Year! 2016 Goal Planning

2016 Writing Goals

So, 2015 has been an interesting year. I've had some wonderful highs and some pretty spectacular lows, but my writing life has held steady for me this year as I keep moving forward with all my projects. Each time I feel frustrated, I remind myself that I am in this for the long haul. Y'all aren't getting rid of me any time soon. I have a whole cast of characters in my head clamoring to be heard. They are pretty annoying, really. So let's take a look at who will get out of the gate in 2016.

Writing to do list:

January: Current WIP: Editing Highland Blood for February Release (pre-order available now. Everyone say a prayer with me that I make deadline)

Feb/March - Writing project for a box set (and top secret steampunk, not Lily, project)

April-June - Work on The Torn World (looking at a July pub on the LAST book in The Harvesting Series)

July-August - Work on Chasing the Fog (looking to pub the LAST Airship Racing Chronicles book in October). I think I am, finally, emotionally ready to revisit Lily and close the lid on that series. I set her aside for the summer so I can focus on completing her story the way it deserves.

Fall 2016 - Highland Queen - I expect this will be the most difficult book to finish in 2016. The current beats need fixed and I need to fill in a lot of holes. Per usual, the Bard's girl is giving me fits

Other projects:

I also have covers for 6 other books. Yes, 6.

What are they? Well...I have 3 "top secret" steampunk books I want to write, a contemporary romance series (you'll dig it, I promise) I've got the first cover for, something fey, and the cover for Imogen, the follow-up to Ink. Will I get to these in 2016? I hope!

Above all, I want to finish my three series in 2016 so next year at this time I have a blank slate. I have several stand-alone novels begging for attention and this bossy heroine in a future New Orleans who is getting pretty mean about the work she wants done. She's kinda scary...in a good way. I need to write faster. In 2015, I curated and formatted 2 collections on behalf of my imprint and wrote just shy of 200,000 words while also working a full-time job, a part-time job, and I have two small children. I still think I can do better.

Looking forward to what the new year brings!

Thanks to all my readers for being there for me this year. I love and appreciate each and every one of you!
