Authors' Blog Hop! July 3-10th!

I am so pleased to be part of the Authors' Blog Hop held by Lady Amber's Reviews! All of the participants of this hop are authors. Please be sure to share some love along the hop!

No matter what path your favorite writer has chosen, traditional, small press, or indie, a lot of blood, sweat, and tears goes into making a book. It is both enormously fun and enormously terrifying to share your work with others. I love writing. I love creating worlds. I wrote my first play when I was in the 5th grade, my first novel when I was 12. Like many writers, I have my share of "bad" novels in a drawer. My first novel, which I wrote when I was 16, is titled "Innocent Evil." It is a high fantasy work that chronicles the "birth" of evil into the world. It's riddled with clichés and bad jokes. Learning how to be a good writer is a process. I loved every novel I wrote, but shoeboxes full of rejections (back when they used to send out paper rejections) taught me that I needed to be better. Getting more education, teaching countless sections of composition, and writing a lot of words has made me a better (not perfect) writer.

I am Jack's inflamed sense of rejection.

We writers are sensitive people. A writer friend once told me "reading your reviews is punishment for having the balls to write a book." Sometimes that feels like its true. Writers are often introverts (of course, there are exceptions), which makes our choice of profession ironic. We write to be read, but we feel really shy about having written it.

Your "comment" on our blog or "like" on Facebook is often enough to brighten an author's day. Even the shortest review on Goodreads or Amazon makes our hearts sing! During this blog hop, stop by and say "hi" to one of the many fantastic authors on the list.

Now, giveaway time . . .

I am offering 5 ecopies of my novel, "The Harvesting" to the winner of my Rafflecopter Hop! You also have a chance to win a copy of the novel through Lady Amber's Giveaway!

All you need to do is "like" my Facebook page. On my Facebook page, I generally post little announcements about my writing projects and entertaining things on zombies and steampunk and steampunk zombies.
