The Chancellor Fairy Tales, Books 1-3 Now Available!

A few years ago, when I was finishing The Harvesting series, I really wanted to write sweet, fairy tale romance. I had a little cast of characters in my head that wouldn't stop talking to me. Kate the mermaid and Julie the witch were the loudest. Sweet but loud. Author wisdom says one should never cross the streams--genres--when building your collection of works. Nothing was farther from zombies than fairy tale romance. Someone suggested I write under a pen name. Poppy Lawless and The Chancellor Fairy Tales were born.

The Chancellor Fairy Tales are modern romance stories set in the small town of Chancellor. I named my town after the Chancellor grape that grows in vineyards on Lake Erie where the series is set. I also used to be a faculty adviser to a newspaper with that name. The former adviser left an empty bottle of Chancellor wine in the office. It went to whomever advised the paper. That bottle was there when I got there and when I left. I envisioned my Chancellor as a little town full of faeries, witches, and even a mermaid, living alongside humans. The stories have a Practical Magic vibe. I loved writing them, but I also had a really hard time managing two author names. I'm a Gemini, so I thought I could hack it but no.

The Chancellor Fairy Tales are stand-alone works so I was okay to stop writing in that series and focus on my own brand, but I missed the stories. I had four more planned but didn't have time to focus on them. The Glass Mermaid is probably one of my best books, but because I couldn't devote time to Poppy, no one was reading!
I made the tough decision to "close up shop" on Poppy Lawless (how cute is that name) and move everything under my name. The series has an all new look, but if you bought these works under Poppy, they are the same (no need to buy again!). I noticed some of you have discovered Poppy/me. Thank you to any of Poppy's readers for your support.
I'm excited to get new covers for the stories and re-launch them These modern tales have the same heart as my other works--strong female characters. But these these heroines show more inner strength than pure badassery. Let's have a look!

I'm the last mermaid.

On the shore of Lake Erie, I spend my final days hunting beach glass, making jewelry, and waiting for my mermaid glamour to leave me. Then it will be over. I resigned myself to the fact that there's nothing more for me. Until I saw Cooper.

He comes to the beach every day to paint the sunrise and sunset. Nothing in this vast world has sparked my attention as much as him. I have no business falling in love with a human. Not now. And Cooper seems to have secrets of his own. I should leave him alone, but the curious mermaid in me can't let that shiny bauble go.

More than anything, I want to be part of his world...before it's too late.

They say the course of true love never runs smooth.

That's nothing a magical cupcake can't solve.

Buttercream. Vanilla. Fondant. Dark chocolate. Strawberry crème. Brown sugar. Lemon curd. Molasses. Baking has always been my true love. But it wasn't until I unexpectedly inherited Serendipity Gardens that my bliss called me. Bittersweet.

Everything's going to work out perfectly as long as the local land baron and his annoying but undeniably handsome son don't bulldoze my dream first.

I'm going to need a little magic to win this battle, but in Chancellor, a pinch of enchantment is always in plenty.

What happens when a fairy godfather falls in love?

With my excellent track record as a fairy godfather, the elders sent me to Chancellor on a mission to help Alice, the quirky owner of the local bagel shop, find her Prince Charming. No one has managed to find a match for Alice. Where they failed, I will succeed.

The only trouble? My head isn't in the game because I'm too busy falling in love with my best friend's sister.

I'll need to get my feelings in check before I blow it for Alice. The upcoming Cherry Blossom Ball should give me the perfect venue to make a little magic happen. Can I pull it off before the clock strikes midnight on both our dreams?
